Weekly Wrap – 24th July 2014

Hi I am Tom McLeod, Co-Founder of McLeod Governance.

This is what I would be thinking about this week.

In producing these Weekly Wraps over the last year or so, one thing that we have come to expect is to expect the unexpected.

Overwhelming Response – How to Make Institute of Internal Auditors More Representative?

And that is definitely what happened last week.  As you may recall last week we looked at how the Institute of Internal Auditors can become more representative of the global internal audit profession.

We stopped counting the responses we got to our Weekly Wrap after it hit about number three hundred.

Now many of the comments were very, very interesting in the sense that they all sort to exploit or better use technology.

And that is the focus of today’s Weekly Wrap.

Exploiting Technology to Better Share Knowledge

How can the profession of internal audit and by extension the Institute of Internal Auditors better use technology?

Obviously we can better use it in our day to day audit activities.

But that is not really what the responses were referring to.

More so it was the sharing of ideas.

How is it that we can better share our ideas across the world?

Accounts payable in London is the same as accounts payable in New York as it is in Sydney.

Yet if one looks for an accounts payable audit program online one will find that it is very old or alternatively it is extremely general.

We have always been protective of our intellectual property and that should continue but we have to find a way to better share our knowledge.
